A quotation continuing on the theme of environmental diversity (but this quotation could apply to our relationships with others as well as the environment):
“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
Dame Jane Goodall (b. 1934; English primatologist, anthropologist, and UN Messenger of Peace)

Seeing the thought for the week from Jane Goodall reminded me of Rachel Carson's writing; another famous biologist and passionate environmental activist.
“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature -- the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” Rachel Carson, from Silent Spring
