The pace of change in society is increasing every decade – and the pace of change in higher education seems to be increasing even more than in society. The theme of the “Thought for the Week” over the next few weeks is ‘Change’ and how we cope with it. We begin this week with a positive quotation about change within ourselves.
“To live is to change; to be perfect is to have changed often.”
John Henry Newman (1801-1890, theologian, Anglican priest and leader of the Oxford Movement who later became a Roman Catholic Cardinal)

Some people find it difficult to cope with change, as human beings we are creatures of comfort. We should think of change as a challenge, that we must conquer, as more often than not, it is circumstances beyond our control that cause changes in our life such as the death of a loved one, something that I have had to cope with this year.
Allah tells us in the Qur'an that He will not change the condition of a person until they change what is within their hearts first - so if we really desperately want to change our lives, we can but we have to make the first move ourselves - so if you are stuck in a dead end job dont complain about it, do something about it and make that Change!! Good luck to everyone who is struggling (like me) to hand in the first assignment of this semester!!
